I work at a salon where women love to chat, and I love to chat. Topics range from Dr. Oz (of course,) to local news, celebrity news, latest beauty trends/tips, etc. I am always talking about weight loss, recipes, exercise, health, and lastly, “fad” weight loss tricks.  People have asked me on numerous occasions what I think of colonics. I like how Dr. Oz says that as females, we are “self-cleaning ovens!” I'd like to think of that area as self-cleaning as well… at least it should be.

My diet, prior to becoming educated, rarely ever consisted of any natural fiber. Now, one of the biggest secrets to my success has been consuming fiber like it's going out of style. I am constantly learning about foods I never used to eat, and my mind takes me back to last summer. We were reminiscing about this tale just this week at work. A kind client brought us in a huge basket full of fresh picked plums from her yard. There is nothing more tha

t I loved more than eating the first fruits of the season. I still like to eat… a lot. I ate 1 little plum and sat there until I had consumed 13! I ate 13 plums in 1 sitting!

When I got home, all I can say is that I had a complete colon cleanse, free of charge! I later looked online to see what is in a plum, and came to find out that they are high in fiber. Fiber plays such an important role in weight loss, satiation and health. There are so many benefits to eating fiber. Now, I am not recommending OD-ing on plums. However, if you eat the recommended  daily intake (or more) there will never be a need to have a colonic for weight loss!

Increase your daily fiber by choosing foods that are naturally high in fiber. My top ten favorite foods that contain a lot of fiber are:

  1. Lentils
  2. Black beans
  3. Kale
  4. Artichokes
  5. Broccoli
  6. Raspberries
  7. Pears,
  8. Oats
  9. Peas
  10. Plums
