The Flu Shot: Its Dangers and Healthy Alternatives
I am vehemently against the flu shot. Seeing the propaganda surrounding getting your “yearly flu shot” nauseates me. I can’t even go grocery shopping during flu season without seeing a flu shot booth conveniently set up near the checkout lines.
Big pharmaceutical companies have literally taken over our health care system. These so-called “preventative” flu shots make big corporations like Glaxo Smith Kline over a billion dollars a year, while the cases of flu continue to rise.Studies have proven that the flu shot does not prevent the flu.
In fact, it has been shown to work in only 1% of the cases! Not to mention the fact that the flu shot contains lab-altered viruses mixed in a cocktail of toxic preservatives, including thimerosal, which is 48% mercury by volume!
Essentially, it is my belief that the flu shot is far worse for you than the flu itself. Think about it: is it really worth being injected with chemical neurotoxins like mercury, in the attempt to prevent the flu? DEFINITELY NOT!
I understand that immune compromised individuals may feel that they need the extra protection, but the flu shot is not the answer. There are simple, homeopathic and natural ways to safely boost your immune system and protect yourself from acquiring the flu.
Safe Flu Shot Alternatives
Vitamin D
My #1 favorite flu prevention is vitamin D. Vitamin D is critical for your immune system to function properly, and without it our T cells cannot mobilize to destroy the pathogen or virus. Did you ever wonder why the flu is virtually non-existent in the warm months? I believe that through adequate sun exposure we obtain enough vitamin D to keep our immune system strong.
I personally take 10,000 IU of vitamin D a day in the colder months. Dr. Mercola, who is famous for his promotion of vitamin D supplementation, believes that people need a minimum of 35 IU per pound of body weight. Please note that this is the minimum dosage requirement, so you may want to monitor you vitamin D levels through blood testing. To keep you free of most illnesses and diseased, 60-65 ng is an optimal level.
Homeopathic Flu Medicines
Homeopathies are one of the safest things you can take as a natural remedy, for both children and adults. They offer formulas for flu treatment and prevention.
Oscillococcinum
This homeopathic blend helps stop the flu in its tracks. Keep it on hand and take it during the first signs of a cold or flu. It works so well that it is now being stocked in most pharmacies. It is great for kids and I know many people who swear by its effectiveness.
Influenzinum
This homeopathic medicine is created annually to specifically combat that year’s common flu virus. Taken as a preventative, there are many different dosage recommendations. One that I have seen work well is to take 3 pellets of Influenzinum 30C once a week for 4 weeks and then 3 pellets once a month thereafter (October through April).
When it boils down to it, the flu shot facts should make your choice obvious. Stick with the natural healthy alternatives, such as vitamin D, for your immune system instead of what is both toxic and ineffective. Not only will you be spending about the same amount of money, or even less, you will also have peace of mind that you chose an option that is safe.
