Healthnut Naturopath Joins Barton Publishing
As you may know, Barton Publishing is laser-focused on providing you with natural remedies that actually work.
Whether it’s through one of our natural remedy reports or solution kits, our monthly membership site we call Home Cures That Work, our blog post articles or our email newsletter . . . our mission is to help you live in abundant health.
That’s why I’m thrilled to announce that we’ve added another doctor to our team of health researchers and writers!
(And yes, she is a healthnut!)
I’m excited to introduce Amanda Box to you. She is a Doctor of Naturopathy and a graduate of Clayton College of Natural Health. She’s been in the health and wellness industry for over 10 years and currently has a Naturopathic consulting practice near my home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Her passion is helping others achieve wellness of the whole person – mind, body, and spirit – and restoring people to health and wholeness.
She doesn’t follow the crowd of “traditional doctors” who mask symptoms with drugs, but rather she figures out the root problems and then restores health with natural remedies.
Dr. Amanda will be sharing more with you in a few days… but for now I’d like to point you to her blog, where she has been writing about natural remedies, tonics, recipes, cleanses, being a mom, going green, and finding great deals to improve your health.
Check out Dr. Amanda Box‘s blog, “My Life in a Healthnut Shell” at http://amandabox.blogspot.com
Her latest posts about ear infections, “virus butt-kickers” and birth control pills stirred up some controversy!
We are excited to welcome fellow healthnut, Dr. Amanda Box to the Barton Publishing team!
Please take a minute to leave a comment below and let Dr. Amanda know what topics you’d like her to write about in the future.
Yours for excellent health(nuts),
Joe Barton
P.S. If you don’t have a good local naturopathic doctor to turn to for your personal needs, Dr. Amanda does phone consultations! She can help you with weight loss, detox/cleansing, acute and chronic illnesses, skin and body care, grocery shopping, pantry overhauls, and more!

I can relate to Dr. Box’s comments. As a child, in the mid 30’s ( I am 77.5 years’d young and take about 120 supplements a day. I have studied nutrition since I was 15 and have an extensive health and nutrition library. I also had earaches but do not know what my folks put into the ear but I still do not like coblt blue bottles as that was the color of the bottle the medicine came in. It worked but blue still reminds me of the ear pains I had. Finally I had my tonsils & adnoids removed and that seemed to halt the ear problems. One of my favorite innfection fighters is HOT WATER. I work at the radiation oncology dept at our regional health center Good Samaritan in Corvallis, POR. I developed an infecton on my right shin. The lesions got tobe about the size of a quarter. Nothing I tried, up to 2.5% hydrocortisone. Nothing helped and the lesions just got bigger. KNowing that virus and other bugs like that can’t stand heat, I after about a week of fighting the infection, stat on the edge of the bathtub and let hot water rundown my leg on all areas of the infection. I dsid this about 3X a day. By the third day, all the lesions had been eliminated. I discussed this with two of our oncologists and they thought this was a great idea when all else fails. One even said that I might have gotten an MSRA infection but could not be sure since no tests were made. He was not happy that I did not say anything to them and self-treated the infection. It’s getting late and I could go on for a few more hours but I should hit the sack before it is time to get up, I get up at 4am and work out at the gym until 6am 3X/wk. I get a number of health newsleters and am anxious to see what you can provide me. Max

Dear Amanda,
Welcome!
Since you are a woman, I thought you might have personal experience and understanding with vaginal yeast infections? I have lived with them on and off (mostly on), and haven’t really managed to understand why they occur. Recently I was free for about 2 years for no real reason that I can pinpoint. I am 46, have a son nearly 6, am very healthy, not at all overweight, exercise regularly, and eat very carefully (mostly organic). I am not into doing candida diets, nor of course would I like to be using suppositories or taking oral medications regularly.
Any advice gratefully taken!

The Candida Diet is what I would recommend. You cannot get rid of systematic candida without it, unfortunately. Very strong probiotics could help keep it at a comfortable level, but as long as the Yeast has something to feed on, it will continue to multiply.

Raw soaked nuts! Take raw almonds, cover them in water and soak overnight. You can then put them in a dehydrator or in your oven at 150 degrees for several hours. A handful a day is great for you!

So many factors to this one. If you’d like a consultation, I do skype, email, and phone consultations. Thanks! [email protected]
Amanda, Please enlighten us as to the best types of nuts to eat as snacks with a nip of scotch or just by themselves.
Thanks
