If exercise isn’t fun, then it won’t work to do it!

It is surprising to me how many people I come across that are

motivated to get into shape and improve their health, but don’t like to workout!  Motivation is great, but enjoyment is better!  By finding ways to workout that you enjoy, you are more likely to stick with your exercise goals rather than quitting after a short stint at whatever.

It is very common that most people try exercises they don’t enjoy and they are the same people who quit trying. Personally, I love working out – whatever

and however the challenge arises.  Working out brings me pleasure and enjoyment.

I love almost any type of exercise: weight lifting, cardio, yoga, kick boxing, climbing, etc. But what exercise works for YOU, will have to be found out. If exercise is fun for you, then you’ll stick with it for the long term.

Here is a list of activities that I’ve done in the last 6 days that are fun workouts. They keep me in great shape – maybe one is right for you!

Monday

10 minutes workout in hotel room – body weight exercises such as pushup variations, 1-legged romanian deadlifts, abs and leg thrusts

Tuesday

35 minute sprint swimming workout

Wednesday

45 minutes full body weight training workout

(Skipped Thursday)

Friday

Mountain biking (including hard climbs and fun downhills)

Saturday

Kayaking (great for the upper body)

Sunday

More mountain biking

Another fun workout that I’ll fit in the next day or two after one day to rest is a kettle ball workout and then a hill sprinting workout another day.

It is easy to find ways to enjoy exercise, especially in the nice weather when you can get out and enjoy some fresh air.

Everybody is different, but for long term success, you must find ways to incorporate exercise into your life that you actually enjoy. If you dread your workouts and think negatively about them, you’re more likely to skip workouts or even quit altogether.

Here’s an article I did previously that gives 15 of my favorite and unique workout styles to give you some more ideas to bring enjoyment to your exercise and even lose weight!
