Relieve Pain and Increase Energy with Oxygen Therapy
By Underground Health Reporter
Oxygen is essential for living.
Our bodies depend on it, with 90% of our energy supplied by oxygen (and only 10% by food and water). Our immune system thrives on oxygen to destroy toxins and generate new cell growth.
The “Rule of 3s” is a powerful example of the vital importance of oxygen:
- You can survive 3 weeks without food
- You can survive 3 days without water
- You can scarcely survive 3 minutes without oxygen!
Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy (mHBOT) is a relaxing treatment in which a person is exposed to mildly increased pressure in a soft inflatable or portable soft chamber. This treatment safely increases the body’s absorption of oxygen in the tissues, organs and brain.
The mHBOT chamber delivers room air (about 23% oxygen) at slightly elevated pressures. Sometimes, pure oxygen is given through a face mask in the mHBOT chambers. Both methods increase the body’s oxygen supply.
The mHBOT procedure is completely painless, noninvasive and usually available at many health spas, as well as at integrative medical centers.
Benefits of mHBOT
There are many health benefits of increasing oxygen in the body. Not only does it heal the injured and sick comfortably, it also:
- Advances the growth of new blood vessels
- Balances the body’s overall well-being
- Decreases inflammation
- Flushes out toxins and waste
- Improves brain function, sleeping, and cell rejuvenation
- Improves energy, stamina, and endurance
- Improves mental clarity
- Promotes relaxation
- Protects against allergens, infection, colds, and flu
- Reduces fatigue
- Relieves stiffness and swelling in muscles and joints
- Stimulates the body’s healing process and natural immunity
- Strengthens the heart and lungs
Healing Since 1965
Many have heard of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) and its long-standing reputation for healing. Hospitals have used HBOT since 1965 to treat decompression sickness, carbon monoxide poisoning and gangrene.
The good news for all of us is that mHBOT is available for our better overall health.
Why Increase Your Oxygen Supply
What’s the big deal about oxygen anyway? We breath it from the air around us. However, the truth is that our air is not what it used to be!
Analyses of air bubbles trapped in fossilized amber show that in earlier times, our air contained about 35% oxygen. Scientists believe that remained true until just a few hundred years ago.
Today, the average oxygen content of our air has plummeted to about 20%. You may well experience in some urban areas oxygen levels are as low as 12-15%. The average oxygen levels of cities is between 15-18%. This becomes very concerning when you consider that air with less than 7% oxygen cannot support human life.
This poor oxygen quality takes blame for the increase in cancers, cardiovascular diseases and chronic degenerative diseases -according to a number of scientists.
This is why mHBOT is so powerful… by making more oxygen available to the body, it allows the body to thrive, protect itself, and heal as nature intended.
Oxygen Concentration Heals
Up to 15% more oxygen is delivered through your body with the portable mHBOT. The concentrated oxygen goes to all the body fluids, including…
- Cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord
- Intracellular fluids
- Lymph
- Plasma
Oxygen therapy has been known to increase the flow of oxygen to areas where blood supply has ben blocked by strokes, injuries, illness or long-term substance abuse.
Scientists and doctors once believed that brain tissue could never heal. However, oxygen therapy promises healing of brain tissue and restored function, even in the case of old injuries.
Oxygen for Weight Loss?
The beauty of oxygen therapy is that it thins the blood and increases circulation. By doing so, it speeds up your metabolism. This means you burn more calories just by breathing!
Furthermore, oxygen is pure food for our cells. When our cells have enough oxygen, they are more likely to function properly. However, when our cells lack oxygen, they send signals to our brain, demanding to be fed.
Since 90% of our energy is derived from oxygen and only 10% from food and water, it makes sense that being better oxygenated would lead to feeling less hungry.
Key to Better Sex
Those who have experienced mHBOT suggest that this treatment improves sex drive for both men and women. Some women report that mHBOT also leads to more intense orgasms and multiple orgasms. Men report being able to sustain erections longer, as well as more intense orgasms and a faster “recovery period.”
Fighting Cancer and Disease
According to Dr. Max Gerson, founder of the Gerson cancer therapy, oxygen plays a vital role in preventing and curing cancer. “The ideal task of cancer therapy is to restore the function of the oxidizing systems in the entire organism,” says Dr. Gerson.
And in 1926, Nobel Prize winner Dr. Otto Warburg of Berlin declared that the cause of cancer was lack of oxygen at the cellular level. Therefore, any therapy that improves oxygenation of the body is likely to benefit the fight against cancer.
In addition, oxygen therapy is known to boost immune function, which is also critical in fighting cancer. This is because a healthy immune system is able to fight off the mutant cells that, if unchecked, become cancer.
The positive effects of oxygenation on the body’s circulation, digestion, and alkalinity are also key factors in how mHBOT may help fight cancer.
Relief from Headaches and Sleep Disorders
According to George H. Sands, M.D. of the Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, oxygen treatment of headaches was first mentioned in literature in 1939, when the breathing of pure oxygen was used successfully by Dr. Alvaraz at Mayo Clinic for severe “migraine” attacks. “[Dr. Alvaraz] found that 80% of “migrainous” headaches were completely or significantly relieved” with oxygen treatment, says Dr. Sands.
Many who suffer typical tension headaches report significant relief with mHBOT sessions. Those afflicted with sleep apnea have also found help through oxygen therapy, most likely because it relieves stress and flushes out the accumulated toxins.
Oxygenize for Better Health
The bottom line is that oxygen is vital to every physiological function of the human body.
In addition to all of the benefits above, oxygen therapy has demonstrated positive results for depression, aches and pains, digestion, circulation, memory, physical stamina, and endurance. In addition—as evidenced by the popularity of “oxygen bars” in fashionable night clubs—oxygen offers a quick and effective cure for hangovers.
Single sessions of mHBOT are certainly beneficial. However, many practitioners suggest that according to research, 40 or more treatments will bring the most dramatic benefits, especially if sessions are scheduled daily. A simple web search should help you locate various providers of mHBOT in your area.

I have been interested in HBOT for several years for more than one of my health problems. Now, I can add migraine to my list, plus begin research for mHBOT. There are so many health problems which HBOT, or mHBOT would only help, or possible cure. Thank you for this very interesting article; now tell me how I can get my doctor to prescribe this, or the other hbot for me! taylor

[…] Relieve Pain and Increase Energy with Oxygen Therapy […]
Getting oxygen in your body is like putting fuel in your car. Until the oxygen (the fuel) gets into your cells (the engine) it does not do anything beneficial to your body.
98.5% of oxygen transported in your body is via the haemoglobin molecule (a Red bloodCell) which will attract 4 oxygen molecules to every haemoglobin molecule, The attraction between the oxygen and haemoglobin is a reversible positive to negative attraction, not a true chemical bond (no swapping or sharing of electrons) and at the cellular level the attraction is reversed by the partial pressure of CO2 in the blood, the higher the CO2 level the greater the disassociation of the oxygen and the haemoglobin. Less than 3% CO2 in your blood and there is not enough pressure to force even one of the four oxygen molecules of the haemoglobin and metabolism ceases and so do we.
Low CO2 levels are always caused by hyperventilation, any breathing through the mouth is hyperventilation
You can spend a lifetime in a hyperbaric chamber but if you breath through your mouth you will get no benefit from it.
Your nose is your organ of respiration, it warms, moisturises and disinfects 98% of the air we breath as well as limits the volume of air take in. It also plays a part in maintaining good postur as you almost have to use your diaphram which helps straighten you up.
The mouth is designed for eating, drinking and talking, not breathing. Mouth breathing causes a multiple array of physical dysfunctions including asthma, sleep apnea, snoring, panic attacks, dental and postural problems. Breath through your nose and you can save yourself a lot of problems
